So where to start....when I look at this picture of me on what would be my last and final graduation day years ago, Iโ€™m reminded of how relieved I felt after walking across that stage. I am the first person in my family to go to college and to graduate with the highest degree. I had worked so hard, long tireless nights on essays, presentations, assignments, and most of all my dissertation - which today I canโ€™t repeat verbatim my findings lol. That day, I felt finally at peace, that now I have come out on the other side and ready to make a difference in peopleโ€™s lives. It was a good feeling while it lasted...it soon paused when I remembered that I still had to complete my post-doctoral internship hours and study for national and state board exams for my license.

Still...it was all worth it.

I was and still am always learning and trying to better myself and my work. I have been through many changes and transitions in my life. I was raised on the east coast by my strong mother who immigrated to this country from Colombia when she was 5. I became a parentified child to my younger brother, and being latch key kids had its fun and challenges while my mom worked multiple jobs. It was during those times that I experienced family counseling for the first time. This is where my interest started....
